Its purpose built factory, in-house laboratory, expansive warehouse, assembly area and an exquisite showroom are located conveniently in Milton Keynes. Working with clients, architects, lighting consultants, interior designers, M & E consultants and distributors for the residential, hospitality and commercial markets throughout the UK, Europe, Middle and Far East. Franklite has established a reputation for excellence.

Franklite has a story to tell. We are far more than just a lighting manufacturer; we are creators, visionaries and craftspeople who continue to pride ourselves on our manufacturing methods and excellent service. We offer products that balance optimal performance with beautiful aesthetics and have successfully supplied our exceptional luminaires to palaces, embassies, hotels, private residences and multi-residential projects.

Franklite was founded in 1973, to supply high quality, decorative lighting to the retail and contract markets. Award winning Franklite is one of the leading innovators in its field, providing expert knowledge, vast choice, customisable and bespoke tailored options, for all applications. The family owned business has achieved significant milestones over more than 50 years fine tuning its craft.

Franklite moves into our Winterhill premises. Purpose built to accommodate our expanding business with large warehouse space, offices and assembly.

Established 1973

1978 a young Mark Lissauer oversees building works for our new premises in Wolverton.

We move into new premises in 1979 and launch our first branding.

Catalogue 1 printed for distribution.

Catalogue 8 launches the ‘Creative Lighting’ addition to the logo, highlighting our lighting design capabilities. This catalogue represented one of the largest selections of decorative luminaires in the UK.

Franklite is the only UK company which owns a RIGO Goniophotometer – a cutting edge device used for the measurement of light emitted from an object at different angles. This is used for measuring the ray data of small light sources, in particular of LEDs, LED modules and OLEDs.

This technology enables us to offer complete photometric files compatible with designer’s Dialux and Relux software in ELUMDAT (.ldt) and IESNA (.ies) formats.

L11 Tunable white light engine

Including: - The L11 tuneable white light engine

This product is an innovative and unique take on a traditional candle lamp – designed and manufactured at our factory, this technology offers a smooth transition between amber and cool white from 1700 to 3650 kelvin. The L11 candle technology produces the same light output as a traditional tungsten candle lamp & contributes significantly to energy efficiency, with an 80% saving, using only 11W. This product allows traditional style chandeliers to be compatible with cutting-edge technology whilst offering a higher lumen output than conventional lamps.

- Franklite’s LED plates (eco-disc technology), are designed as circular plates available in five configurations with a variety of colour temperatures. Middle fitting should be mounted in the middle of the walkway, and fittings either side should be evenly placed to create a symmetrical array. Span of entire fitting is Approx. 6200mm from the front to Approx. 7000 from the back. (see 'Isometric' Drawing)

Concept of 'Light Arch' is to focus your line of sight to the centre piece when you are walking in from the entrance. The fittings should be arranged 500mm from the front face of the ceiling plate to the edge of the above ceiling. The fittings should be arrayed to the line that's perpendicular to the centre chandelier (as shown above)

Fitting is held into position by a ceiling strap, fitting is light weight and doesn't need any additional steel support. Max weight Approx. per fitting is 2.75kg. Plasterboard fixing is required to hold that amount of weight.

Bespoke Fittings

Our client fell in love with the design of our Victoria range but required larger pendants and wall lights to fit the substantial restaurant space that was being refurbished within the Crieff Hydro Resort and Spa. Based on the initial brief our in-house design team produced bespoke concepts of a 5-tier version of the pendant and wall light.

BESPOKE 5 TIER Expanding on the 600 diameter 2 tier pendant a 1200 diameter 5 tier version was created. The wall light also had a matching 3 tier extension.

Kellys Portrush entertainment complex revamped The White Pheasant restaurant. One of the stand out features in this restaurant are the decorative arches and pillars. A wall light with bespoke backplate to accommodate the curvature of the pillars was required to enhance the architectural design. An alternative design and finish of the backplate and arm was required to accommodate the curvature of the pillars for this project. The lampholder and glass sphere retained its original design.

Emergency Lighting

- Lighting for an emergency situation when the main power supply is cut and normal electrical illumination fails (blackouts/fire/natural disasters/ power failure and so on) - Required to operate fully automatically and give illumination of a sufficiently high level to enable all occupants to evacuate the premises safely for at least 3 h (1 h is permissible in some cases) - The British Standard 5266-1 provides the emergency lighting designer with clear guidelines to work to. It relates to hotels, clubs, hospitals, nursing and care homes, schools and colleges, licensed premises, offices, museums, shops but also multi-storey dwellings. - Emergency option can be incorporated in many of Franklite products (look for in Catalogue)

Specialised 3D model service offered by our Lighting Designers

Franklite has been a DIALux member since 2016. DIALux offers lighting designers the platform to connect with manufacturers such as ourselves. Through planning, calculating and visualising lighting for indoor and outdoor spaces this software provides solutions to meet all design requirements. We specify products for the residential, hospitality and commercial markets throughout the UK, Europe, Middle and Far East. Within our projects department we have a highly skilled technical and design team. Our lighting designer uses software such as Autodesk Inventor to create 3D digital models of our product ranges. Along with the photometric data, these 3D models are uploaded into the DIALux evo software. This allows users to visualise how the light output from each fitting would look in a desired room layout to scale. IFC files are also available of all our products. This file format can be uploaded into the Revit software making it easy for architects, engineers and construction professionals to model our fittings with accuracy and precision.
